AKUFEN

DELETE @ Dusk Till Dawn, Bournemouth
Friday March 16th 10pm-6am

Marc Leclair's Akufen project has brought the micro-house sound to the masses. His unique style of production, first heard by many on his seminal 'My Way' LP, has inspired a whole generation of beat-slicers, and somehow made seriously wonky music hugely popular.

Imagine an album made up of over 200 snippets of radio samples, mixed with a hefty dose of songwriting instinct to make brilliantly spannered, yet insanely catchy futuristic house music.

Where to look for Akufen stuff:

Check his dark, jazzy work as Horror Inc. on German super-label Perlon.

He's released the killer Psychometry EPs on Trapez.

You should've heard his Fabric mix – a tour through all manner of brightly-coloured off-kilter funk in his inimitable style.

His label Musique Risquée is home to some seriously quality new talent.

He's remixed a whole range of people from Plastikman (Richie Hawtin) to Massive Attack, even Craig David (yeah, probably shouldn't mention that one…)
