We always get excited at Delete when we’re bringing incredible talent to the UK for the very first time. We did it last April with Mossa, and then again with Le K, and now we kick off our 2008 programme proper with Sweden’s finest export since gruyere cheese, Donk Boys!
They only started releasing records as a duo last year, but already their originality has seen them release on some of the most exciting labels in the minimal scene. Taking the funk template of the likes of Mike Shannon, the experimental aesthetic of [A]pendics.Shuffle, the surrealist humour of The Mighty Boosh and, well, donking the whole thing out, all of the tracks they have released stand out as some of the most twisted dancefloor destroyers we’ve heard in a long time.
Check their ‘CP Styre’ EP on Frankie, packed full of groove and peppered with deliciously spannered sounds. The ‘Sing Along With…’ EP on Floppy Funk takes the sound a step further, inducing all kinds of wrong in your ear drums. We’ve always liked our guests to be a bit off-kilter at Delete, and the Donks were born to play in our grubby little basement.
The boys (Thomas Jaldemark and Martin Abrahamsson) couldn’t put it better themselves: “two mentally okay guys from Malmö, Sweden, who make mentally sometimes not so okay music.” Doesn’t that remind you of a Saturday after a Delete party?

As ever Pseudo Funk will be dishing out the DJ goodness, dropping seismic sound shifters like only they know how. If you haven’t already, make sure you buy your copy of Tone Def’s track ‘Sweet Onions’ (under his Tony Guinness guise) from Binge Records Green. Also keep an eye on his My Space page for a wealth of new material, including ‘Crackton’ and the charmingly titled ‘Magic Poo’.

And Mr Smith has an ace masterclass in deepness called 'Sandpaper Lollipops' on his My Space too.
Upstairs for this party we are very pleased to be welcoming back Chas Mollet, otherwise known as DJ Mossman, the brains behind storming electronica net label Audio Aubergine. He will be dishing out all manner of bass heavy future-groovers, from true electro to sick dubstep to just about anything.
This will also be the lounge debut for DJ Hayley Selassie, a long time Delete trooper who has sorted us out with after parties more than most, and who has knack for rinsing out particularly evil dubstep styles. He’ll be going back to back with the Mossman for some kind of crazy prophetic soundclash.
Sorry for the heaving amount of info this month, but there’s a lot of exciting things happening in the world of Delete. Stay tuned, and we’ll see y’all down t’basement!
